Lian's Genius
In which the Logic pillar perfects the architecture, and the new world learns how to think.
The Logic pillar was tested second.
Lian stood at the center of the World Root, with the logic of the code flowing into her, with the through-line in her mind, with the structured magic that she had been learning for three years, with the source code reading that she had been practicing since S5E8.
The logic was complex. The logic was the architecture of the new world, the rules by which the new world would run, the debugging that the new world would do on itself. The logic was the spine of the new world, the thing that held the memory, the abundance, the unity, the love together in a coherent system.
Lian had designed the logic. She had written it. She had tested it. She had refined it. She had been working on it for three seasons, since the day she had first read the source code in S5E8. The logic was her masterpiece, the thing she was most proud of, the thing that made her the lead debugger of the alliance.
She held the logic. She held it the way a programmer holds the architecture, the way a teacher holds the curriculum, the way a daughter holds the mother's tapestry. She held it because the logic was the spine, because the logic was the debugger, because the logic was the way the new world would think.
She cast the spell. The logic flowed into the World Root. The new world began to think.
The logic was not just the through-line. The logic was the entire debugging philosophy, encoded into the source code of the new world. The logic said: "Any sufficiently well-defined problem is solvable. The love is the answer. The team is the difference. The debugging is the work. The work is the love. The love is the only thing that has ever held the world together."
The logic said this in the language of structured magic, in the language of the Compiler, in the language that Malachar had written a thousand years ago. The logic was elegant. The logic was beautiful. The logic was the kind of logic that a person writes when they have all the time in the world and all the love in the world and none of the bugs.
Lian had learned the logic from Kenji. She had perfected it. She had made it her own. She had made it the logic of the new world.
She cast the spell, and the new world began to think, and the thinking was structured, and the structured thinking was the debugging, and the debugging was the love.
